Igniting the “Spark” within – Sharing thoughts and ideas on success

What is your end destination? What goals do you want to achieve with your home business? Do you want to have that “lifestyle” or just make a few extra dollars part-time? How many hours, how much effort, and how much success you want to achieve is up to you. Honestly, for me it’s not the end goal but the journey that most interests me. The end goal will come if I just start on that journey, and so far what an awesome journey it has been.

Some ideas to keep in mind while on your MLM Success journey!

Remember – it’s a 3-7 year plan – and that means being in action mode every year of that plan. Perseverance is a key skill and will take you far. In the book “Go Pro, 7 Steps to Becoming a Network Marketing Professional”, by Eric Worre; he talks about the 1/3/5/7 plan.

  • It takes one year to figure out what you are doing; become competent if you will.
  • In about three years of consistent effort you can replace your current income.
  • It takes five years to become a six figure earner.
  • It takes seven years to become an expert or world class.

What does world class mean? World class is when you are at the top, at the top of your “game”, in the top 1% of your company, and a true leader in your profession. This the part where you help enough people get what they want and all that you could ever want is taken care of.

“You can have everything in life that you want if you just give enough other people what they want.”

― Zig Ziglar

No doesn’t always mean No; very often, it just means “not yet.” Make sure you are still in the game when the timing is right for your prospect. The best way to ensure that no doesn’t mean no but “not yet” is to have a system to stay in touch with people. Use a variety of tools because every person is different and responds differently to staying in touch. Some people read email, others don’t. Some people use social media and some don’t. Some people enjoy getting a card in the mail that says “Hey, we’re thinking of you”. Using a variety of tools will help you be there when that person is open to you, your products, or your company opportunity.

Success in our profession is about developing certain business skills. The only way to fine tune them is to practice – phone skills; communication skills; telling your product and business story – practice, drill and rehearse! Give yourself an education that will last a lifetime. Personal development is the most cost effective education that you can have. Learning new skills will put you on track to becoming “World Class”. If you don’t communicate well, join Toastmasters.  If you don’t write well, take a writing course or just start writing. The more you do something, the better you will become at it.

Don’t be a whiner! Sometimes there are bumps in the road. Don’t feel compelled to share those “bumps” with everyone you meet or on public online forums. It just makes you look bad and on the Internet it’s hard, if not impossible, to take it back. Your positive outlook can carry you through the rough times. Even then, sometimes it’s great to have a mentor and trainer. Your sponsor or upline leader can become your personal mentor or you can link up with one of the many successful MLM trainers.  Many leaders have a free weekly training call or even do free live webinars. Some of my favorites are Jackie Ulmer, Todd Falcone, and Eric Worre. There are many others, so find someone that you connect with.

Your role as a leader is to light the path for others – take on that challenge every day! Leadership in our business is doing! Doing is what people follow. If you are full of “hot air” or “I’m a gonna”, that won’t get you very far. Start right now by doing. Doing is connecting, sponsoring, teaching, helping, learning, communicating, and mentoring.

Most of those worthwhile things we experience come from within. Work hardest on developing and improving yourself! Again, personal development is the only way that I know to true success. You can be born with a silver spoon and by the time you are 20 or 30 have lost it all. If you develop yourself personally you will always be a success. Even if you “lose it all” you will always retain the skills to start over and become successful in that (1/3/5/7) time frame.

On a last note, develop a Go-Giver attitude. Even when you are just beginning, NO ESPECIALLY when you are just beginning.  Providing more value to your connections, prospects, and clients will put you on success trajectory that will shoot you to the stars! Listen to a recent interview I conducted with Bob Burg, co-author of “The Go-Giver”.

Here is to all of your success! Go Seize It!
