As I was making coffee this morning I for some reason started thinking how stress free my life had become. I know of many people that are stressed out all the time. So today I want to talk about a few thoughts on “How your MLM Business Creates a Stress Free Lifestyle.”
The way this article came about was the other day my neighbor stopped over to ask me a question about their mail. During the conversation we got to talking about work, actually she’s a graphic artist and I asked if she does any freelance work. She told me that because she’s so busy with full time work she really doesn’t have time. Currently she’s working 50 hours a week, commuting over 1 hour to work (one way) and meeting tight deadlines. This can wreak havoc on one’s life.
I had mentioned to her during our conversation how my commute is from the bedroom to the office (by way of the coffee pot 🙂 ) . The she told me she tried working from home but didn’t seem to be able to get anything done. I said that the way I work is that I do a lot for a short period of time. Say 1-2 hours, then I go do something else. I can do this 3-4 times a day working on different projects and that the key is to have a list that you can work from. If something NEEDS to get done it’s at the top of the list.
The other thing about working at a home based business compared to working for a company (even when working from home) is that we don’t really have deadlines. And the deadlines we do have are self imposed. Stress is created by having a Boss always wanting more and more.
Think of it this way. Say you want to build up to running 10 miles. Your self imposed goal is to be able to do this in 6 months. You set your goal and start running on a regular basis, while increasing your mileage until you have met that 10 mile goal. This is a how a MLM business works. You decide what you want to do, then you set out on the goal of accomplishing it. But what happens if you don’t make? Or if it takes you a year to be able to run 10 miles in stead of 6 months? You will only be hard on yourself and if your goal takes longer no big deal.
Compare that to being forced to run 10 miles. Lets say you joined the military and by the end of basic training you have to run 10 miles. You only have 8 weeks and now you have a Drill Instructor yelling at your 24/7 you have peers putting pressure on you to keep up and run and it seems you are running all the time with no break. This is very stressful. Basic training is designed to induce stress because you will need to learn how to handle it in combat. (With my business I hope to never see combat) Yes the thrill of making a sale is great but not like combat). This is how a regular job is. That stress of working under someone else with expectations put on you can create an enormous amount of stress.
Let’s say you are just getting started in your network marketing business. You decide you want to “give it a try”. This too is even a stress free experience, you sign up, get some products or services you talk to a few people then “life gets in the way” and you put your business on the “back burner” for a while. Will anyone call you up and yell at you? Will the company send you a message that you didn’t meet your quota? Will your sponsor send you a nasty email saying that you suck? NO, the only person who will get on you for not doing something is yourself.
The beauty of this type of business that we are involved with is the stress free lifestyle that it creates. The key is to get started, be productive and have a good time. Then one day you can quit that stressful job, that stressful commute and fire that stressful boss. You just have to get started.
Here’s to Your Success!
